SAME LOCATION AS LAST 2 YRS!
In the VFW Hall (Post # 4903) on N. Beverly Ave., just off Speedway
Blvd. at 1150 N. Beverly Ave.
There is plenty of parking and a no host bar attached
to the hall. Directions are extremely simple: Take Speedway
east from HWY 10 five miles. Beverly is a few blocks past the
major intersection of Swan and Speedway and two blocks
before the major intersection of Craycroft and Speedway.
(If you get to Craycroft, you went two blocks too far).
Turn left onto N. Beverly Ave. from Speedway and pull
into the ample VFW parking lot at 1150 N. Beverly Ave.
Tucson is laid out such that Broadway, Speedway and Grand all run
parallel on another and are the main arteries roughly East and West,
while many main arteries run roughly North/South, such as Swan and
Craycroft.
People wishing to submit specimens for sale should
contact me as soon as possible. Items will only be accepted
which are deemed to hold appeal to the collecting community
and which have modest reserves/minimums or no minimum.
Photos must be furnished before January 1st for the catalog.
Please email or call me for details.
*************************************************************************
ABSENTEE BIDS: One of the following are required to place an absentee bid:
Visa or Mastercard number and expiration date on file OR a pledge to make immediate
payment from a PayPal account with a current balance sufficient to cover all bids
you wish to place.
Fee for absentee bids is 5% (only if you win the bid, of course).
Your maximum bid will NOT be placed, but rather bid up one increment at a time in
response to live bidding at the auction. In other words, you will get the item at the
lowest bid possible (similar to eBay). (On no minimum items, I generally start the
bidding at 1/3rd to 1/2 the price I estimate at will be the selling price). This gives you
the same advantage as being there.
You may phone and leave your Visa or Mastercard (only) number with expiration
date, your address and phone number (if they are not already on file with me) or
send them in at least 3 different emails. Be sure you receive an email response from
me confirming your bid(s). (Emails sometimes get "lost" so be SURE I respond, or
email me again - and please put "Meteorite Auction" in the subject box so you don't get
flushed out with the 300 spams I get every day).
BOOKS:
Mike and Bill Jensen & Anne Black co-authors of METEORITES A to Z
will be offering their LATEST EDITION, which has vastly more locations
than the 1st edition listed as well as other convenient updates. This is THE
portable and most user friendly reference in meteoritics. I have 2 copies and use
it almost daily. Buy it here, save on postage - AND get it signed!
In addition, noted author, O. Richard Norton and his wife, Dorothy will likely be there
and will bring a few copies of each of their respective books and personally autograph
copies if anyone wants to bring their own or buy one from them. Dorothy
has recently had a fossil book published FULL of her illustrations on Ice Age
Mammals & Richard, of course, has published two of the most important books
on meteorites ever released. His ROCKS FROM SPACE II and THE CAMBRIDGE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF METEORITES belong in every collector's library.

ON LINE CATALOG available soon.
This VFW post has plenty of parking and a no host full bar. So, be prepared to see
a LOT of specimens & meet lots of people face to face. EVERYONE is invited to
attend, bid and/or sell.
There will be micromounts, macromounts, small specimens, part slices, whole
slices, whole specimens, huge/multi-kilo specimens & RARE thin sections.
All are welcome to enter specimens, whether you are a dealer or modest collector
wanting to sell (a) specimen(s) which is/are now upgraded in your collection.
This is NOT an event just for dealers - so, please feel free to submit any item(s).
However, when the list goes over 100, I will begin to pick and choose even more
closely among items offered as to which will be best to include in the auction.
PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO NO MINIMUM/NO RESERVE ITEMS
and to ITEMS OF HIGHEST QUALITY.
This promises to be a FUN time & everyone is invited to sell, buy or just enjoy the
festivities & to go to a late dinner afterwards. This is an opportune time for many of
us on the list who know one another only via e-mails to meet face to face & get to
spend some fun time together. (If you buy some stuff at the show - bring it to the
auction & at the dinner afterwards we can all Show & Tell - one of the more fun
aspects of collecting, in my book).
Most auctions now customarily charge buyers a 10% or 15% "buyers' premium"
which is added on to the winning bid price. Even for this auction, expenses have
increased to the point I must charge a minimal buyers premium of 5%. I have
kept this as low as possible to minimize the pinch felt by the buyers, yet allow me
to continue to hold this event in the face of a 300 to 400% increase in expenses in
just the last 2 years.
Also, those who consign items for sale will be charged only 10% of the final selling
price. (25% is the norm for consignments at an auction). There will be no fee for
failure of items to meet the minimum or reserve on items with a photo placed prior
to January 7th.
I only require 3 things:
1) I ask that everyone just buying arrive between 6:00 & 7:00 to pre-register
to get a bid number & examine specimens that will be offered (& take advantage
to meet old friends you only know by e-mail address! and "have a cold one" if
you so choose - or, in Rob's case, a warm one.
2) Those also selling, please have material at Room 316 by late Wed. or, if you are
hoping to enter items the day of the auction, at the site between 5 PM and 7PM - the
earlier, the better. (Late arrivals will be accommodated, if possible, up to 7:30, but
THE EARLIER THE BETTER)
Due to time constraints (we ran pretty late the last couple of years) I am limiting the
auction to 125 lots. So, the better the specimen and the earlier you arrive to register,
the more sure you can be of getting your piece(s) in the auction and an early arrival
allows you to take a close look at the material available
3) The VFW has a full bar on site. However, please drink responsibly and have a
designated driver.
ON LINE CATALOG CLICK coming soon.
I will be accepting absentee bids (for a 5% fee)
prior to the auction. I will be accepting Visa and Mastercard payments for .
said absentee bids. There will be a 5% processing fee for use of Visa, Mastercard or PayPal. )
- At the auction, personal checks and cash are accepted.
(For purchases made with Visa/Mastercard,
there will be a 5% processing fee charged).
- There will be a uniformed guard to facilitate security .
If you are interested in being paid to help out with the clerking of the auction,
please contact me directly.
It is my intention to retain the open atmosphere which has characterized
my auctions since the beginning, being; "the people's auction" where collectors
can offer or buy lower end material to upgrade their collections, drop specimens
off an hour before the auction and have a fun social atmosphere which, I feel,
provides a real service to the meteorite community. However, there are now quality
specimens for sale to the more discriminating collector and opportunities for dealers to
make major purchases and sales, as well.
This year's auction promises to be the best to date!
(If you would like to put an exceptional specimen on consignment, please contact me at mlblood@cox.net for a full description of terms and conditions)
